Ever since I learned about Salvation Mountain I knew I had to visit. We made the 2.5 hour trek from Fontana a couple hours before sunrise. I only got a few hours of sleep the night before, but as soon as we rolled up to its dirt driveway lined with painted tires, I couldn't hold in my excitement. I jumped out of the car as fast as I could, threw on my film camera and DSLR across my body and marveled at all of the colors.
We were sad to discover that most of Salvation Mountain was closed off due to the rain earlier that week. Since the entire structure is made out of adobe clay, it was closed off as a safety precaution. But we made the most of it and had a FREAKING great time exploring and getting creative! *Also, don't count on finding a bathroom or porta potty. When nature calls, expect yourself to be poppin' a squat next to some sparse trees.......... or forcing yourself to hold it like I did HAHA.
I brought a lemon as a prop. I've seen other photographers use fruits as props and I thought it would be fun to give it a try.
Here are some fun scans that I shot with my first roll of film!
Thanks mom for buying me my first film camera. ❤
I came across this sandal on a weird looking tree. It reminded me of Birkenstocks and I LOVE Birkenstocks. I bought my first pair in college and haven't looked back since. This tree looked like Birkenstock art or something.
I had an absolute blast working with this girl (@jazztimee on Instagram)! We're just out here trying to make our dreams come true and currently dreaming up our next shoot.
Expect more of my work coming at you shortly! I'm currently putting together a page for all of my films and I'm seriously stoked. Thanks for supporting me and checking this post out!
